Moshe

Moshe is the sweetest, funniest, and most surprising gentleman you could wish to know. He is, according to my children, also their coolest Uncle by far.

He is different to all his siblings, although not that different. Like his brothers and sister, he has no problems making his claim to the things he desires.

Just like them, he does have some challenges in communicating some of the subtleties of what he thinks and feels. Mosh has an excuse though, he is autistic and has lost the power of speech.

However the more one gets to know Mosh the more one realises Mosh does not have a problem at all, the problem of understanding lies with the listener.

Spend time with his family of patient carers, Anita, Melanie, Emma and a small army of other adoring young women (and men) and you will begin to know Moshe as they do. You will know his love of musicals, especially Mama Mia, and how he sways delightedly from side to side in HIS favourite arm chair.

You will know his legendary appetite for food, especially Chicken Tikka Masala for breakfast. His unique tea drinking style seems to be inspired by a cross between the Guiness Book of Records Beer drinking championship and Grand Theft Auto! You will know his love of massage and aromatherapy, how he loves to play football, (not quite Rooney, but not far off either). Mosh adores throwing objects unexpectantly, which has had it's dramatic moments. A ball pond has solved his desire to throw, with the more usual social conventions that Mosh is mercifully and enviably largely relieved from.

Stories of Mosh's exploits are legendary and grow by the year.

The best advice I can give all of you is to spend time with Mosh. He will love your company. He knows much more, than you think. He knows who is family and who is not. Don't make the mistake of thinking that because Mosh is happy and well looked after, there is no need to make the effort. He will definitely love a visit, and so will you, much more than you thought you would. In fact what you thought would be an effort becomes a continuous joy.
