Dear Rita and Lex,

I await your arrival in September with great pleasure.

You gave me great joy with your phone call and subsequent letter. I have noted the dates you gave me and have put Sept. 13-15th definitely aside for you. I am not sure yet what is happening between 20th-24th, but shall let you know nearer the time.

I am sure London will surprise you, whether for good or bad remains to be seen. There is much going on and if you give me an inkling of your special likes and dislikes, I shall try and suit your tastes.

I shall make a few suggestions in due course and would like to know if you prefer theatre, musicals or opera.

There will be plenty to talk about – grandchildren will be one topic – and I expect you to bring a few photos.

We are all well. There is always one member or another of the clan globe trotting and keeping the rest entertained with travellers’ tales – one thing the Confinos are good at!

Ah well, this is only a brief note to say that I am happy you are coming.
