Dear Lore!

I was happy to receive your letter yesterday.  I am now three weeks here and enjoy the work.  I was very pleased that you did so well in your French exam.  Was it written or oral.  Write and tell me what you were asked.  I expect your holidays have now begun and you are pleased.  I already wrote to you that I rented a safe in Thonon.  To get to the safe I must first show my passport, then I must sign a paper giving the time of my arrival, then the employee goes with me to the safe and opens one lock with his key.  Now I must do some work.  I have my own key for the second lock to my locker.  I have my own key for the second lock to my locker.  In order to fit the key in the lock I have to dial a secret code number of my choosing.  There are three discs, one above the other.  I will now give you the numbers I have chosen but you must not tell them to anyone 2/6/9.  I chose your birthday and the month of my birth. – I have not yet heard from Ernst.  Give my best regards to Auntie Eileen and Uncle Nat.  I send you enclosed a picture of the Russian Pavillion in New York.  Much love, Oswald
