Thonon, 13 September 1941

My dear Lore,

It has already been ages since I had any more news from you but I know that you have just sat your exams and I hope with all my heart that you have done well in them.  Were they hard? I wonder where you are at the moment and what you are doing.

There is nothing new here. Can you imagine that the day before yesterday I received a letter from Ernest in which he told me that he had sent me a little money through his relatives. Isn’t that touching? – I was absent from school for almost 4 weeks and I have only been back here for 3 days. I make my meals myself and I am very happy that I know how to do it.

Do you continue to play the violin? Me too, I’ve often wanted to be able to resume playing the piano but you see I have never had the chance. From my first years at the school until now, I have had some nasty teachers or I have really had to interrupt what I started. I hope that this bad luck stops following me in the end.

I hope now to receive your news soon and I ask you to pass on a hello to all our relatives.

I give you a really big hug

Your Oswald

Is Aunt E. still in Canada?
