My dear Lore,
I have received all your cards and letters and thank you for them. In the first place I want to give you my new address. We are allowed to write 4 postcards and 2 letters per month. You will understand that I cannot write to you often. If possible, always write to me in French. I will receive your cards quicker. I know your French is not very good but I understand everything you want to say. Please always send me a card with reply paid because I don’t have any more money to buy stamps. I received a letter from Mme Lochon in which she tells me that she received a letter from my aunt (??) – that must surely be Betty who has written to me. In any event I hope to receive some money soon. Our school has started already, I think on 23rd October. I am here with a friend from school and we are trying to return to school to continue with our studies. We have also written to our Directeur. Has Uncle Max received my two cards? You know I have Papa’s and Mama’s things. Well, at the moment I don’t have them any more. I left all my bags with Mme. Lochon. I am trying to have my warm clothes sent to me. It is already very cold here and it has already snowed. Can Oma still receive money? I am the youngest here in the camp. Have your friends returned to school? If your friend Alma has returned to school give her my regards. Today, my friend and I received a card from one of the teachers at the school. She told us that not all the pupils have returned to school. I now give you the address of family in Luxembourg. Felix Ermann, *, Luxembourg. If you want to write to Oma, you must write 2 letters – one to Felix in which you ask him to post on the second to Oma. But only write the date on Oma’s letter – not Edenthorpe or the address. I think this is all for today. I think I sent you two cards from Chambaran.
Did you receive them?
Lots of love from Oswald
