Tel Aviv

Darling,

Not being content with cutting one finger I have cut a second, on the left hand this time, and this, you will agree, incapacitates me to type.

Today I have been very lazy, not because there was nothing to do – on the contrary, piles – but I didn’t feel too good. I thought, hells bells, nobody will mind if I take it easy, and correspondingly stretched myself out on the bed. As a direct result I feel fine this evening and shall cope with the household tomorrow.

We, that is the children and I, went to the Malchis late this afternoon. They are maidless again and Malchi seems to be doing a lot of the work. He also looks after the child and (unintelligible)* doesn’t want to have much to do with his mother. When we arrived he was still asleep and later, on waking up, yelled for his father to be dressed by him. He pushed her away, and I could see how cross she was about it. Malchi is doing everything like a lamb but not without sighs and I shouldn’t be surprised if he gets fed up one of these days.

They had decided to take the child to Jerusalem because it appears that for 2 years already, he is sick when he eats. Sometimes 3 times a day. His room smelled too and I didn’t really like the children to play with his toys but I couldn’t stop them.

Your father has just been up with your letter of 22nd. I didn’t realise that you were still in Paris because I sent all my correspondence to London. I do hope your lumbago is better because it is a bad business if it draws out too long. Your people went away today as Oliver’s sister has died.

As far as the food situation goes, potatoes are plentiful now, so are the vegetables. Today I got little apricots and Liki was too delighted for words. I have to take the kids out twice a day, otherwise there is no peace. Rebecca is not back yet. Hope she will turn up this coming week.

Your mother needs some knickers. Get her the largest size you can find, also 2 or 3 pairs of stockings. They don’t have to be nylon – also largest size. Otherwise I can only think of a cardigan for her but don’t think they make them so big. Try the shop in Baker Street. For Liki long trousers. Ideal! For Moshe woollen panties. You know the type he wears and a couple of pullovers.

Well this is all for today. Hope all is well. Shall write the letter to the Legation and show it to Baby on Saturday.
All my love,

Bossy.

P.S. I don’t know who of the three of us eats most of the chocolate!
