Tel Aviv

Darling,

Now that the children are in bed (it is 9 o’clock bless their hearts!) I want to tell you that we were all happy to get your cable. It was naturally censored. I expect you were a most suspicious character after having travelled on the same plane as Kaplan. Did you have a good journey, and pleasant company? Did anybody meet you there and how did you get to Milano? Do let me know how everybody is and what the children look like.

I’ve had a most hectic day with the children. Liki has been terribly naughty. She started the day with falling out of bed, calling me all sorts of names, spanking a cat etc. etc. and the baby threw his shoe out of the balcony. I retrieved it after a long search. We went for a walk since it was a lovely day and I took the children to the little garden. After Liki had tried several times to run away I dumped her into the pram and to everybody’s amusement, Moshe started pushing her around. There she was leaning back like a proud lady, (unintelligible), and the little one pushing for all he was worth. I wish I had had the camera with me. Liki has been asking where you were but now she has got used to it that you are at doda Matty’s.

Everybody has been very nice to me. Your father came up specially this morning to see us and brought me my meat ration too. Later your grandmother enquired how I was and how I had passed the night. I was so exhausted I must have slept like a log. Mordi was very gallant and got the pram in for me – so altogether I feel quite spoiled and very well looked after. But all the same I wish you could pop in for a minute just to say hello to the old stinker.

Yesterday evening a girl came to ask for work – a friend of Ester’s. She wanted £25 and no sleeping in. A big fat girl she was with a dull stupid face and I really didn’t fancy the idea. It will be much nicer for me to have someone once or twice a week in the evenings so that I can go out. Your auntie Lisa knows of someone, I shall see about it. – Next week I want to enquire about the kindergarten for Liki and get the injections done. I am not looking forward to it but I expect it’s got to be done. Darling don’t forget to drop Ma’am a line. I shall be writing to her – also to Matty and family. Meanwhile give them all my love and a big hug for you,

Bossy
