Dear Mr Confino,

I have as much difficulty in writing this letter as you and your wife have in reconciling yourselves to receipt of such things.

No words of sympathy (such an inexpressive word to use at such a time) can in any way mitigate your sorrow & I do neither wish to dwell on this.

I can only give you the normal Jewish blessing of “Long Life” to you and your family & may you never again encounter such sorrow.
